“Dear Friends,

Whether you know us through the CSA or Yoga classes, we are writing to let you know about a wonderful opportunity offered by one of our 501©3 non-profits, Global Coalition for Peace. GCFP will be offering a workshop, Weaving a Tapestry of Women’s Self Reliance, the last week of October at the beautiful Fox Haven Organic Farm and Learning Center in Jefferson, MD (near Frederick). This will be an incredible opportunity to spend a week learning and at the same time enjoy a vacation. The experience offered by the presenter in this beautiful & peaceful environment will cover different facets of working with women in undeveloped or underprivileged places – anywhere in the world – who want to help themselves and their families. Spend a week in a healthy, low-cost environment expanding your horizons.

After nearly ten years of working in the field with women who face severe challenges to support themselves and their children, we want to take what we and our associates in the field have learned and share it with others who desire to help women who want to help themselves. This is a five-day program in which participants are introduced to the basic concepts of the Women’s Self Reliance Program (WSRP), a women-empowering project of Global Coalition for Peace.

Did you know WSRP has gone to Haiti? If you have not seen this yet, please visit http://gardens4peace.blogspot.com to get a glimpse of the first trip in 2013.

The purpose of these trips was to help the beautiful people of this remote village, who have suffered so much, become more food secure through vegetable gardening. We hope you will read it and pass it on to your family and friends.

What is WSRP? WSRP works with women to weave together their own cultural and human values, and their skills and knowledge with critical information on nutrition, intensive vegetable gardening, and micro-enterprise. The hope is that this tapestry results in a physically and mentally healthy and conscious lifestyle for themselves and their families. WSRP emphasizes the importance of compassionate and respectful community intervention with a deep understanding of the challenges of living in poverty.

For more information on the workshop go to http://www.foxhavenlearningcenter.org/content/weaving-tapestry-womens-self-reliance Contact Rose (Mirabai) Lord at roseannlord7@gmail.com, or Victor at gcfp@earthlink.net

Please spread the word about this very special program.”
