Presence

By Kenann McKenzie, Ph.D. January 22, 2017 Community mindfulness politics protests relationships support unity women

During this last week we saw powerful reminders all over the world of the need for -and celebration of – community,  regardless of one’s political persuasion. It is often said that human beings are social creatures and even the introverted among us felt compelled to come out and hold hands, celebrate or be sorrowful with others.
I have found technology to be a wonderful medium for connecting with others,  but when one’s heart is breaking or celebrating,  nothing means more than a human touch,  word, embrace or acknowledgement. Aside from our virtual lives,  may we find ways to come together and share our presence with others.  At times like these,  it means ever so much.
